Recording Information for Passport Boxes

One Touch Record

1. While watching live TV press the REC key
   
   
2. Select Record this show from the list of options

 

To change your recordings option:

1. Press the List* key
   
   
2. Select the recording
   
   
3. Recording Options from the list of options
   
   
4. Save Option
   
   
   • Until Manually erased.  (warning: when the DVR is full, it will no longer record)
     
     
   • Until Space is needed (DVR will erase older show first)
     
     
5. Choose Start Time options will be grayed out if the recording already started

Recording through Listings

1. Press Guide
   
   
2. Select future program and press Record
   
   
3. Create a Manual Recording
   
   
4. Choose Individual or Recurring
   
   
5. Choose the:
   
   
   • Channel
   • Date
   • Start Time
   • End Time

Record a Series

1. While watching live TV press Record
   
   
   or
   
   
   In the guide listings, select future program and press Record
   
   
2. Choose Record Entire Series
   
   
   • Note:  This option only shows if the program is a series
     
     
3. Series the title is on the top 
   
   
4. Episodes to b option:
   
   
   • First Run only (no repeats)
     
     
   • First Run and Repeats   
     
     
5. Channel option
   
   
   • Only choose the channel you are on
     
     
   • All Channels (anywhere the DVR can find the show in the guide)
     
     
6. Air Time option:
   
   
   • Only choose the time you start the process
     
     
   • All channels (anywhere the DVR can find the show in the lineup)
     
     
7. Save options
   
   
   • Until Manually erased  (warning:  when the DVR is full, it will no longer record)
     
     
   • Until Space is needed (DVR will erase older show first)
     
     
8. Episodes to Keep options
   
   
   • If choosing more than 5 choose All Episodes
     
     
9. Choose Start Time options

Series Manager

The Series Manager lets you to modify recording options for each of your series recordings. The changes you make to the series recording will affect each episode in the series.

Change series options

1. Press the List* key
   
   
2. Press C for the  Series Manager screen
   
   
3. Select the recording you'd like to change
   
   
4. Select Series Recording Options to change:
   
   
   • Episodes to Record - First run & repeats, First run only
   • Channels - Any channel, Specific channel, HD Only, SD Only
   • Air Times - All showings, specific time only
   • Save - Until space is needed, Until manually erased
   • Episodes to Keep - If choosing more than 5 choose All Episodes

Sort Series by Priority

You can change the priority of your future recordings. The higher the priority, the more likely it will record if there is a conflict

1. Press the List* key
   
   
2. Press C for the  Series Manager screen
   
   
3. Select the recording you'd like to change
   
   
4. Select Series Recording Priority
   
   
5. Use ▼ or ▲ to move the show to a higher or lower priority

Canceling a Series Recording

1. Press List* for the DVR Recordings page
   
   
2. Press C for the  Series Manager screen
   
   
3. Select the series you want to cancel
   
   
4. Select Cancel Series Recording
   
   
5. Press A to confirm

Setting a Manual Recording

1. While watching TV press the REC key
   
   
2. Select Create a manual recording
   
   
3. Select Individual or Recurring recording
   
   
4. Press ? to access the  Channel column. Use ? or ? select a channel
   
   
5. Press ? to access the Days column. Use ? or ? select a day or days
   
   
   • For Individual recordings, the Day(s) column displays the date of the recording
   • For Recurring recordings, the Day(s) column displays a day of the week (or a combination of days)
     
     
6. Press ? to access the  Start column to set the time that the recording should start
   
   
   • Use ? or ? to select the hour
   • Press ? key to select the next two columns for minutes 
   • Press ? key to select a (AM) or p (PM)
   • Example: 7:35 p

    

7. Press ? to access the End column to set the time that the recording should end
   
   
   • Use ? or ? to select the hour
   • Press ? key to select the next two columns for minutes 
   • Press ? key to select  a (AM) or p (PM)
   • Example: 9:35 p
     
     
8. Press the A key to accept the entry and schedule the recording
   
   
9. The single manual recording icon or the recurring manual recording icon will be displayed next to the program listing in the Program Guide

Recording Programs with Keyword Search

1. Press Guide to display the listings
   
   
2. Press Guide again to display the Search Menu
   
   
3. Press the C (Search) key
   
   
4. Select Keywords
   
5. Use Your ▲,▼, ◄, ► keys to select letters, press OK/Select to add letters to the search term
   
   
6. A list will populate to the right, select the show you want
   
   
7. Press REC while selecting a folder, your options are:
   
   
   • Record all matching shows
   • Record all matching movies
     
     or

   Press REC while selecting a single show, your options are:
   
   

   • Record this show
   • Record entire series
   • View this channel now

Access, Play, Erase, and Modify Recordings

1. With the remote, press the List* button once
   
   
2. Once the DVR recording list appears, use ▼  and ▲ to scroll though recordings, and OK/Select to select a recording
   
   
3. Next, once the Record Options pop-up appears, use ▼  and ▲ to choose  Play, Erase, Keep Longer, or Save Until Manually Erased, and press OK/Select

Sorting / Grouping Recordings (Putting in Folders)

1. With the remote, press the List* button once
   
   
2. On the DVR recordings page, press  A
   
   
3. Arrow to and select Group Titles
   
   
4. Titles will now be grouped into folders 
   
   
5. To expand a folder, select the folder, and press OK/Select

 

To un-group:

1. On the DVR recordings page, press  A
   
   
2. Choose Show All Listings from the options list

Playing All Recordings From a Folder

Your recordings must be grouped into folders first (see above)


1. Select the folder you want
   
   
2. Select Play All or Play All New
   
   
   
   • You will be shown how many hours and minutes you  it will take to play

Deleting All Recordings From a Folder

Your recordings must be grouped into folders first (see above)


1. Select the folder you want
   
   
2. Press the Info key
   
   
3. Select Erase All
   
   
   
   • You will be shown how many hours and minutes you are erasing
     
     
4.  A confirmation screen appears. Press:
   
   
   
   • A - Erase All to confirm
   • C - Don't Erase to cancel and not erase

Canceling a Recording

1. In the Program Guide, highlight a program that is scheduled to be recorded (or currently recording), and press REC

   
   or
   

   Press List* for the DVR Recordings page
   
   
   • Press B for Scheduled Recordings
   • Select the show you want to cancel

   
   

2. Select Cancel Recording
   
   
3. Press A to confirm

Managing Scheduled Recordings

1. Press List* for the DVR Recordings page
   
   
2. Press B for Scheduled Recordings
   
   
3. A list of scheduled recordings display newest to oldest based on the scheduled date of recording
   
   
4. Use ? or ? to select the scheduled recording
   
   
5. Select:
   
   
   1. Stop Recording (if recording in progress)
      
      
   2. Record Options:
      
      
      • Save Option
        • Until Manually erased.  (warning:  when the DVR is full, it will no longer record)
        • Until Space is needed (DVR will erase older show first)
      • Choose Start Time option
      • Choose End Time option
        
        
   3. Cancel Recording (will cancel future recording)

Resolving a Recording Conflict

When a recording conflict occurs, a message will pop-up advising of the conflict and how to resolve. 

You can either delete one of the recordings or modify the start and end times of one of the recordings to not interfere with the recording times of the other recordings

Viewing Recording Capacity/Hard Drive Space

1. Press LIST button on remote for list of Recorded Shows  
   
   
   • If remote has no LIST button, use this alternate method
     
     
2. Press A
   
   
3. Select View Disk Info
   
   
4. Disk space is color-coded
   
   
   
   • Red: Saved until manually erased 
     
     
     • Total duration (%) of all programs saved to hard drive that will remain until you manually erase them 
       
     • If majority of hard drive space is red, it means you will have difficulty recording new programming until you delete some recordings
       
       
   • Yellow: Saved until space is needed 
     
     
     • Total duration (%) of all programs saved to hard drive that may be automatically erased
       
       
   • Green: Estimated free space
     
     • Total amount (%) of hard drive space currently available for recording

Cropping

The Cropping function ensures the recording of high priority shows in their entirety, even if the programs start or end at times other than the top or bottom of the hour and conflict with other scheduled recording requests
 
Automatic Cropping
f a scheduled recording request overlaps two concurrently scheduled recordings by 10 minutes or less, the DVR will automatically crop (trim) the program of lower priority so that the highest priority program will be recorded completely. The programs of lower priority will still be recorded, although up to ten minutes may be trimmed.
 
Manual Cropping
You can also manually crop up to 10 minutes of time from the beginning or end of a program.
 
1. Press the LIST* key to display the Saved Shows screen
   
   
2. Press B if you want to manually crop time from a scheduled recording
   
   or 
   
   Press C if you want to manually crop time from a Series Recording
   
   
3. Highlight Record Options (or Series Recording Options), and press Select/OK
   
   
4. Use the arrow keys to change the start and end times (up to 10 minutes)
   
   
5. The DVR will display a Cropping icon when the relevant program is highlighted in the Saved Shows, Scheduled Recordings or Series Manager
